A Special Surprise Arrives!

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.ย

WHAT? We have MAIL? How COOL is THAT? And, it's ALL the way from AUSTRALIA!

WHAT? We have MAIL? How COOL is THAT? And, it’s ALL the way from AUSTRALIA!

Yeah! A SURPRISE package! WHAT??? Not ONE package … but THREE packages! You’ll NEVER believe where they CAME from … all the way from ROSS in AUSTRALIA! We wonder WHAT is IN those packages! Some of our guesses were:

  • stuffed animals because when we shook it it SOUNDED a little rattly … and Ross has SENT us stuffies before!
  • hockey sticks? (Are we thinking this because the SNOW is starting to fly?) ๐Ÿ˜‰
  • inflatable soccer balls? (Some of us must be HOPEFUL that the snow won’t last THAT long!)
  • hockey pucks?
  • some of us thought it might be CDs because we know that Ross is a GREAT movie maker and he’s sent them in the past!
  • a SNAKE??? (Mrs. Renton sure HOPED not!!!)
  • a FLAG?
  • a MAP?
All this guessing and SUSPENSE was KILLING us! Come on! Let's RIP these parcels open!

All this guessing and SUSPENSE was KILLING us! Come on! Let’s RIP these parcels open!

We VOTED to decide WHICH package to open FIRST!!! Then, Mrs. Renton drew NAMES to be fair! We felt REALLY excited! We were SO surprised when we OPENED the packages and discovered what was INSIDE! WHAT!!! A DINOSAUR egg? Just add WATER and WAIT!!! We’ll have to wait until Monday because … well … what if it gets LOOSE over the WEEKEND … and makes a mess of the CLASSROOM??? (The STUDENTS aren’t afraid of the dinosaur wrecking the class but Mrs. RENTON sure is!!!)

Oh, MY! What IS it?

Oh, MY! What IS it?

We thought the Ancient Animals book and ultraviolet magnifying glass was SO cool because the magnifying glass would show you secret messages on some of the cards!

Oh, WOW! This secret ultraviolet magnifying glass is AMAZING!

We LOVED the surprise presents that came from Ross! He knew that, because we were learning about fossils, we would LOVE the gifts!

Here’s a SLIDESHOW of our surprise mail adventure. We sure hope you enjoy it as much as WE enjoyed RECEIVING these special gifts:

Ross, we have SO much gratitude for these surprise parcels! Thank you SO much for being such a WONDERFUL teacher to us … all the way on the OTHER side of the world! You should know that, even after SEVERALย years, students THOROUGHLY enjoy your surprise packages. One of their most FAVOURITE activities is spotting the SNAKE cards, SNEAKING up behind Mrs. Renton, ACTIVATING the card and ASKING her, with HUGE twinkles in their eyes, WHICH disgusting snake she thinks it MIGHT be! (THANKS for THAT!!!) ๐Ÿ˜‰

You have blessed our learning in SO many ways and your kindness is treasured by both current AND previous Global Grade Three bloggers, (and their lucky teacher)!

Smart move Mrs Renton about the Dino egg. Mr Campbell would not be pleased if the dino ran havoc at the school this weekend.

      Hi Dave!

Thank you for the awesome, FUNNY comment! The directions said that it would take between twelve to twenty-four hours to hatch. We were afraid of what it MIGHT do to the classroom AND the rest of the school if it hatched alone on the weekend. You are going to laugh, though, because on Monday we put Matilda’s egg into water. at 10:30 am. Matilda did NOT hatch that night. On Tuesday morning we came in … and Matilda STILL wasn’t hatched. This MORNING … she STILL hadn’t hatched. It’s been FORTY-EIGHT HOURS … plus a little bit … and there is STILL no sign of Matilda!!! We think it MIGHT hatch tonight because we can see a whole bunch of little cracks in her egg. Some of us think she might be waiting for THIS weekend to hatch so that she can have the whole school to herself!!! Maybe she’s not hatching because in Calgary right now it’s winter and it’s very COLD outside … compared to Australia! Australia is very warm at this time of year!

Keep checking back! Have a nice day!

    Hello Grade Three Bloggers,

I was pleased to see your packages arrived. I know how much fun a class can have opening packages from someone they know. ๐Ÿ™‚

I started to write a comment to add here but it grew a little larger as I added some extras. Here is a link to the Extended Comment…
